She just voted to waste another $142,695 of your money

...AND SHE KNEW WHAT SHE WAS DOING!
September 15th 2009 - What on earth is going on with commissioner Jo Ann Golden?
Last meeting she was given advanced information and she agreed to pull a consent
agenda item that could potentially plunge the city backward into FMPA (our power
provider) for the next 30 years. But what did she do? She did nothing until
LWM reported that she had failed to act in behalf of the public. Then she promised
to report to the public when she had corrected the problem... but she didn't.
Now tonight, when the commission had a chance to save taxpayers another $82,620
dollars in transformers already in stock... Jo Ann did nothing again and then
turned around and voted FOR wasting the money. The only request made by LWM
was that she do her "due diligence" and try to save the people money.
Although the whole commission was responsible for not listening to the former
chair of the utility board (Task Force) who presented documentation showing
that the $82,620 worth of transformer equivalents were already in stock ...it
was Ms Golden who knew what was going on but failed again... to act in behalf
of the people.
Utility director Mattey tried to fluff her way out by not addressing the issue
that the needed transformeres were already in stock. She appealed to resident
and commission fears with statements like, 'we need to be sure we have enough
for a storm and we used 12 of these transformers just last week.' The documentation
from the city's own website (July 7 backup material) showed that the entire
$82,620 dollars was being spent unnecessarily.
When Dave Vespo was in office and Jo Ann was part of a minority vote... she
was dedicated to finding waste and was bold and brash enough to stand up for
what's right. Working closely with LWM who prepared her slide presentations
on FMPA and Water deals... she alone was the leader in trying to save the city
tens of millions. But now after the new city manager took Jo Ann under
her wings... Jo Ann reversed herself and began voting FOR wastful expenditures
that she knew were wasteful. That's right. On all but one occasion, she had been personally given privileged
and advanced documentation proving that the utility director was lying to the
public and the commission... documentation plainly showing the amount of waste.
But shortly before the new city manager arrived, she began informing the utility director and city manager about the information she was receiving which has now resulted in well over a million
dollars in waste that she has voted FOR during the past few months.
The whole story will be the subject of our first radio show... so stay tuned
and watch the top of the homepage for a radio link. We will announce it
in advance of course.
