What real estate agency was this? The Pier Group? There was always rumors that this company would perhaps be the leasing agent. What happened here? I just can't imagine any company getting into a VERBAL agreement with Willard.

It implies that the architect, the Realtor, the developer's own employee have been stiffed and that Steele wants to flip the contract. I agree with you on the oral contract thing. Not too smart if that is the case. Get everything in writing. We know that they don't care anything about our city but then, neither did the commission that handed them our beach. Which is worse?

I am concerned about the "anonymity" of the source and the real reason behind the creation of these two documents. Some of the questions may be valid, but who is to say which ones are and aren't. If there is a disagreement between whatever parties, it should be handled in a different way and not anonymously sent to an Internet message board. And that board, which requires people to register so that their identity is known and one that has taken a firm stand on no anonymous postings, should be consistent with that policy and not publish anonymous items.

The letter writer says he will come forth if Greater Bay will answer the questions. Perhaps there is some local Realtor, an architect, etc., who has been involved in this project that can confirm or deny as Greater Bay has not yet done so. Remember Deep Throat who was totally anonymous but brought down a government for being right on the money.

A story of this type from an anonymous source must be truly significant and newsworthy in the eyes of the site admin in order for it to be even considered on lakeworthmedia. The writer asked questions that have to do with a partner of this City that to this date, does not have its financing, does not have tenants, and has several significant clouds over it from ever happening. Not to ask the questions and print them is derelict, in my opinion, because it has always been the admin of this site's objective to expose objective reality, by whether it accurately describes that reality. It is up to the reader to discern what is fact or what might be fiction. It is also the reader's discretion to read or not read, worry about it or not worry, take action or not. I feel that there is much to consider in this writer's questions.

Not meaning to be confrontational Truth, but if I were a member here, I would be deeply concerned if LWM didn’t publish the letter which contains relevant information. Whether or not it was anonymously submitted is inconsequential in this case.

And why would LWM withhold it? Because the questions aren’t relevant – they are; because they are attacking someone – they aren’t; because there’s a disagreement between parties and it should be handled differently – so we should keep quiet and hide it from public view like everyone else does?

This letter involves information concerning a highly controversial public project and these questions even if submitted by Santa Clause would be eagerly addressed by anyone who didn’t have something to hide.

Lack of response only lends more credibility to these questions. If you had nothing to hide and were trying to win over public support for your controversial project… wouldn’t you respond, especially if it was a turkey shoot? Considering the vehement criticism of the project from what appears to be a clear majority… why would you not want to respond and thereby discredit the anonymous source? Why wouldn’t you want to put to rest any silly rumors that could fester into an open sore and bring about more public suspicion over your project?

It may very well be that a few simple explanations would dispel further suspicions. If honesty and integrity are behind the intentions of this project… I’m quite certain that these questions can be addressed quite publicly and effectively if there is nothing to hide.

I see, so it's o.k. to post and publish anonymous sources as long as it furthers your agenda. It's good to admit that and get it out in the open.

An organ of the media, especially a responsible one, would take this information and attempt to determine its source. If successful, then at least there would be an opportunity to ascertain whether or not the issues were grounded in reality or what. If that was not successful, then an "ace" reporter would surely trace down each and every question to determine if there was indeed something there. If there was ample evidence, the that organ of the media would publish their findings.

They would not publish a raw, anonymous letter if they were interested in only publishing fact.

But then again...

Truth – if we could focus on the content of the letter and avoid getting side tracked on accusing LWM of secret agendas it should confess to, the dialogue would be more productive.

These questions clearly stand on their own merit and I think we can be perfectly comfortable with letting the public view what LWM received anonymously and I have no intention of hiding it from them which I believe lies at the root of the problems here in the city, hiding things… would you agree?

If you think the questions raised in the letter are frivolous then a productive course would be to show why they are, or introduce facts that will help readers understand your view of them.

If you wish to spend more time reviewing these questions, you may submit an article for publication and LWM encourages you to use that privilege.

Truth--
You said--I think that the lions share of these pertain to a private business arrangement that is just that - private.

Do you think that the way someone conducts himself in "private" business matters or contracts has any reflection on his character in any other business transaction especially one as important as our beach? Would this have anything to do with integrity? With trust? I mean, after all, GB is a partner.

its becoming increasingly difficult for me to believe this letter didn't touch a very sensitive nerve somewhere, especially when the content of the letter is made the issue instead of gossip about who might've written it and why. I don't pretend to understand all of it but I thank LWM for putting it up here and not hiding it. It has been helpful to see how some future political candidates wanted to deal with it by trying to cover it up and make the stench go away. Just "more of the same" of what we already have.
